First flowers

Is there something in children's DNA that makes them want to pick flowers?

Is it something innate, part of human nature that makes small people want to tug at colorful growing things even though they've never been taught to do that?

Do all little boys like to collect the flower heads of weeds, wad them up in their fists and hand them to their moms?

Or is it just my Man-cub?

I don't have boys, but my youngest daughter has been giving me flowers since she was little.

Both son and daughter both love picking flowers/weeds/sticks/leaves or anything else to give them to me. *L* I do think it's in the dna.

I think its sweet that he picks them and gives them to you! My daughter likes picking flowers but its more about eating them than giving them to me.

He's practicing his gentlemanly skills. Encourage him.
Especially if he's picking flowers that belong to a neighbor that you don't like.

I think all kids give Mommy "flowers." I stuck the "flower" M gave me in her scrapbook. The ever-popular dandelion.

Oh that is sooo funny. When I was little, my dad came home for lunch each day.
Each day, he would bring my mom a short stubby rose head that she would float in water.
I remember her telling me that she wished if he were going to do that, he would make it a stemmed rose. She never said a word and he never changed.
Thanks for the memory!

I was just looking at pictures of my little boy attempting to take the petals of off some pretty wildflowers at the Botanical Gardens. They really are into yanking those things off!

I used to do that until one day I picked flowers that were growing in the midst of poison ivy. Mom was not pleased with her itchy little boy.

That is so cute :) My daughter loves to do that as well. They really do shrivel up quickly, don't they?

A-men sister. There just MUST be something in their DNA, mine does the same thing (from weeds to flowers)!!

I love it. My five year old picks weeds for me and makes a little sacrifice pile-o-flowers. It melts my heart. My youngest on the other hand, would probably just try to eat them.
