LOL I saw the picture before the caption, and I thought, my god, don't tell me she has one of those in her neighborhood!!
whoa! That is one interesting bird. It looks soft!
Actually we do get anhingas in our yard sometimes!
I have seen these guys here in Illinois - although rarely. We have a heron rookery not far from where we live, in the middle of what once was a gravel quarry. It is now filled with water and dotted with islands where the birds roost. There are some shallow, semi-swampy areas that border the main part of the quarry and it is there that these birds have been seen.
Cool.
Wow! At first glance, I thought it was a vulture for some reason. It's HUGE! What a great, up close snapshot.
They are cool birds! Have you seen them when they are drying their wings? The wingspan is huge!
How neat!! I love birds!
