Flatwater kayaking
Because toddlers make you use your imagination.
Because we never got that unsexy hole in the water.
Because sometimes you don't feel like getting wet.
Because it floats, after all.
Because ... just because.
Any other ideas?

Kayaking is fun, although I've never done it in the ocean. Lake Michigan is as close as I've come to that. What I HAVE done in the ocean (what I really, really love to do in the ocean, besides .. you know) is sail - a 16 foot catamaran is heaven, to me. Power boats are fun - but expensive. Sailing is cheaper - you won't get there as fast and your route won't be as direct - but it won't cost you an arm and a leg, either.
Now THAT looks like so much fun! I would LOVE to get in that boat, but, yeah, unfortunately I'd capsize those 2.

What fun! I think you guys used some great imagination here :) Kayaks are wonderful. And they much more stable than a canoe...as we just found out recently.
Looks like a great idea actually, and you get to keep him dry. Those toddler inspired ideas always keep things interesting.
Much safer with a toddler, the flat water....
