Meet the artist

Snakes, fingerpaint on fingerpaint paper

Footprints, fingerpaint on fingerpaint paper
It's hard to believe, but my son created all these masterpieces in one afternoon. He even named them. (Well, two of them.)
The Man-cub is intrigued by painting. I don't do a lot of crafts with him because I have this general feeling he can't yet, or doesn't want to, do that stuff. I'd say he's more of a gross-motor-skills kinda guy. But I want him to be comfortable -- no, happy -- creating things, because I want him to grow up thinking of himself as creative.
So I hope he doesn't mind I'm blogging about his art for the We Heart Art carnival. As the bloggers there pointed out, "Pablo Picasso once wrote that 'Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.'"

Love that quote!!!!!!
Too cute on the paintings!
Going to vote!
I think being creative is a great habit to pick up. The quote is perfect. I haven't started my two year old painting just yet although he does have one of those aquadoodle mats he just goes to town on. Spares me the agony of watercolored hair. ;)
And I voted. ;)
Cool paintings.
I love your little Picasso and I sense SERIOUS talent. :)
i actually miss that stage - such experimentation! love it
Cute stuff~ I love looking at kid creations!
I love his imagination and how he's able to just create something so freely!! There's nothing more fun than watching your child creating a masterpiece!!
Kids just love fingerpainting. He did really good. It's good of you to let him do things like this.
I love that you do this with him often, and your reasons for doing so :)
I try to keep as many of these as I can of my daughter's. They are masterpieces to us after all! :)
p.s. I'm voting for you and another Boston mom blogger every day!!!
