Bring on the chaos
I was going to write this post about how I hope by the end of the day, I will be able to say I survived being the mother of two children alone for the very first time.
See, my husband went back to work today for the first time in a week.
But.
Super friend (makes her sound as though she has super powers, no?) Guinevere and her son stopped by with lunch. Her son and the Man-cub played and swapped sandwiches. She got to hold the baby.
Then my husband also came home for lunch. And to hold the baby.
So I haven't been alone for the whole day.
Which is way better than the post I would have written, I'm sure.
For once, I'm disorganized, but rather than feeling out of sorts about it -- I am enjoying every minute of it.
For now....

Oh do I remember those days of bringing home a new baby to a home where there was at least one child already - - - -in fact, I distinctly remember doing it THREE TIMES.
I used to BEG my doctor to keep me IN THE HOSPITAL as long as I could stay and insurance would still pay for it. My mama didn't raise no fool - - - there were NURSES there to help me, and at home I had to be the chieftain.
You are really smart to let go of some of the ocd-ness. Time will help you get back the order and schedules you crave.
I'm glad you didn't have to be alone a day.
I remember how hard those first days home alone with the baby were. Probably better to ease into it. Glad to hear you're doing so well!
I remember my first day home alone with the baby when my husband went back to work. I made my friend come over for the whole day. I bribed her with pizza. And I only had one.
I think I'm still disorganized.
I was so thankful we still had daycare for Izzy when Nat was born. That saved me so much time.
Glad you had some company today, it must be overwhelming to be home with two. I use to think I wanted more children, but now he is 4, I don't think I could have done it. Funny how no one stops by to hold them when they are pre-schoolers! lol
I was nervous all three times the first time I had to be alone with the baby (and other kids). It always turned out fine though. Soon you'll forget what it was like to only have one kid!
I'm glad you're still getting help! It's necessary for sanity those first few weeks!
Belated CONGRATULATIONS - I have been thinking about you and your latest addition. Enjoy every moment (when you get your wits about you, of course...) I know those first weeks...months are the nuttiest, sleep-deprived, mom-hormone crazed - but also so wonderful. Savor what you can.
And - June 30 is a great day - my oldest (3yr old) shares that birthday. Congrats again!
So glad you're enjoying it! One alone was daunting. Two alone...oh.me.oh.my. Well, at least you'll have plenty to blog about. ;)
Good for you for enjoying it! I am soooo not looking forward to being left alone with three ... yet in some ways I am, because then you get to truly experience the beauty of it all.
While, the first day or two may be scary, I know you can do it! Take it easy, don't try to get everything done (after all, the laundry will get done, eventually) and, if you can, grab a nap. :)
It's so nice to have help with the little ones- I very rarely did.
