Florida residency has its privileges
Living in Florida definitely has its perks. One of them is being able to see the space shuttle taking off. (At least until NASA stops doing missions.)
Um, yeah. That little streak in the sky is actually the Endeavor from yesterday evening. I know you're really impressed with my proximity to the rocket and my photography skillz.
My husband and I took the boys outside to see the shuttle. When we saw it, we excitedly like nerds pointed it out to the Man-cub: "See the rocket? There it is! It's going into space! It's going very fast!" Etc. etc.
"Can I have a boost?" the Man-cub asked.
So I picked him up.
Then he cheered.
That extra three feet into the air makes all the difference, I guess.

Very cool, when we were in Florida back in march we saw the poof in the sky, I thought it was very cool, the bug not so much.

When you're a tiny little tot that extra three feet is pretty impressive.

We were at New Smyrna - right on the beach - for a nighttime launch several years ago. Like WOW.
Ha! We've been able to see it from our house too. We waited on the roof but the cloud cover prevented a clear view. We were disappointed but I think the kids were just happy to be on TOP of the house.
No way! That is so exciting. In all the years I lived there, I never saw a shuttle (unless it was on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center).
What a treat that must have been!
