How to spoil a 3-year-old for his birthday
For the Man-cub's third birthday this week, we had a long weekend full of fun events. Because life has mainly been about his baby brother the Bug lately, we wanted to spoil the big brother a little.
We went out for frozen custard last Friday night.
Then on Saturday, we went to train heaven, aka the Gold Coast Railroad Musuem, and rode in the engine of a train on a short ride. Thanks to watching Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs, my son insisted that we were going to crash or at least run off the track. No such calamity occurred, though.

Retired with new lives as on-board museum displays

This is only half the room full of Thomas the Tank Engine play tables

Elaborate model train displays

Big ol' grandaddy engine

Umm ... OK
On Sunday, we went to a local bikes 'n' blues event for charity.

And of course, we carried out our Sunday night beach tradition.

For my son's birthday on Monday -- Labor Day -- we could think of nothing better to do than to sweat it out in the middle of the day at a local garden/zoo.

I spent the remainder of that day making cookies for my son's preschool class that the kids didn't eat. Probably.

And of course, there were presents. What is spoiling without presents?

Now we're back to Friday again, and the Man-cub is still a happy guy.
May the birthday high never wear off....

Happy Birthday to the little guy! I'm impressed with those cookies.
Sounds like a fantastic birthday celebration! And you did it all with a newborn too.
Sweet train-lovin'!!! Awesome!
OOooo happy belated birthday to Man-cub!!!!!
What a wonderful birthday long weekend!
I'd have loved the whole trian thing too!
Happy birthday, little guy.
Those cookies had to be mighty enticing to the average 3 year old. I bet they did eat them, while running obstreperously around, of course. What a great Birthday. ~Mary
The train museum looks awesome! What a fun filled weekend.
I'm so glad Man cub had a happy birthday. It's one he'll remember for a few years. :)
You are one busy mommy! Fun
I bet the train museum was wonderful! Looks like a terrific day was had by all!
Can I have a cookie? They look very, very yummy.
I think our little boys would get along fabulously! What a cool birthday event.
What a nice birthday celebration!
But be warned -- stay away, stay far far away, from the Thomas the Tank Engine movie.
What a fun birthday celebration. Those cookies are gorgeous. How on earth did you do all of this with a baby? Go Mom!
That is quite the birthday weekend. Wow. I understand the need to spoil him a little, it's tough when a new baby moves in with all his non-stop baby needs. ;) And I would totally eat those train cookies...although I probably wouldn't take the time to make them.
Sounds like heaven for a little engineer!
What is it with the whole "Do Not Hump" thing? It's on the side of one of my husband's work building and he has yet to figure out what it means...
I would totally east the cookies.
Happy (belated) birthday, Fly!
And those trains look awesome. I'll bet he had a blast.
Those cookies? Super impressive. Nice job, mom.
