1969 was a very, very good year

Today is my birthday, and my family and I are in Disney World this week! Even though I'm an old lady now, I plan to go down water slides, eat a funnel cake, ride a roller coaster and ooh and aah at the fireworks. I will pick up my preschooler upside down and spin him around. I might laugh a little too loudly. I will tell my husband every day how much I miss our cats at home. And I might buy some silly Disney tchotchkes for the boys, just because. Heck, maybe I will go wild and buy one for myself.

I can either moan about my birthday and conceal my age as though I'm ashamed I've survived life this long.

Or, I can celebrate the life I have now and the life I've lived.

You've guessed by now....

Today, I am 40.

There, I said it.

Getting old can SUCK IT!

Happy Birthday, you are just a tiny little YOUNG thing - - -

1953 was a very good year too - - - Watson and Crick made the first model of DNA, and I was born with lots of DNA in all my cells!!!!

Enjoy the Disney Birthday. Water slides and funnel cake are the way I would celebrate too. Woo-hoo. 40 is the new 20, don't sweat it. Old is 40 times 2, so you're really only halfway there. ;)

So sorry I missed this yesterday. I hope you are having a fabulous time at Disney World. So jealous. I wish that I will be able to make it there for my birthday one year. BTW - you look amazing and remember the number means squat!

I refuse to lie about my age as some women do- I don't get it. But you know what I REALLY like? When they card me at the liquor store!!

Happy Birthday!!! You are gorgeous...seriously! And, like my mama says, "The point isn't not to age; it's to age gracefully" Eating a funnel cake, riding a roller coaster, and enjoying life with your little ones...now that sounds like some gracefulness right there!

Happy Birthday. You don't look 40 at all.

Disney World is a great place to spend a birthday, by the way. I hope it's full of fun and celebrating...and I hope you wear an "It's My Birthday" Disney button. :)
