Take Your Cat to Work Day

This morning while I was running errands, my husband texted me to say, "I took Maisie to work."

Maisie is one of our cats.

So, WTH?

We brought Maisie home from a local shelter. She turned out to be the most snuggly cat our family has ever known, and every night, she sleeps in all her tortoiseshell furriness on my husband's head.

(This is a good thing, because his hair is getting thinner and she keeps his head warm.)

Anyway, when I got home, sure enough, Maisie was gone. So I texted my husband back:

"What?!"

I'm so clever and glib.

His response was to send me this picture of Maisie in his office.

Either she was too embarrassed to be photographed full-frontal in my husband's messy office, or she was nervously looking toward the door because it's actually Take Your Dog to Work Day, and there might have been loud, slobbery dogs out in the hall. And I don't think she has ever seen a dog.

As you might know by now, my family has to be different, so yes -- my husband took a cat to Take Your Dog to Work Day.

Good thing his boss is already used to my husband's sense of humor.

Actually, Maisie can be quite useful at the office. She can keep a stack of files warm by sitting on them. She can knock the phone off the hook by rubbing her cheek against it answer the phone. She can greet clients and give them promotional tchotchkes (if tri-colored fur on your dark dress pants is considered tchotchkes.) She can look executive:

I'm not sure if the world is ready for cats in the workplace, but until then, looks like my husband is going to fight the power.
