We did a thing kind of like that in Arizona, except we rode in a high, open-sided truck. It was pretty awesome. They gave us food to give the giraffe's who stuck their heads right inside.

When I was a kid the lions were indeed free-ranging, and that was a major part of the advertising (humans in cars while lions roamed free!).

I noticed the same thing about the lions last time we were there. I remember as a kid they were free roaming, now they're penned within a pen. Apparently some not-so-smart someone didn't heed the signage is my guess. ;)

Stephan grew up in Florida and is dying to take Levi on one of those. Quite frankly only having a car between me and animals scares me just a tad.
It does look like a blast though.
